Current role
Scientific Data Analyst
Chenega Professional Services, supporting CDC's Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP), Epidemiology Research and Innovations Branch, Atlanta, GA, June 2022 to present
I evaluate COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness, safety, and breakthrough infection among nursing home populations by integrating Truveta, MarketScan, CMS claims, PointClickCare, and Premier data into a single multi-million-patient analytic picture. I program the statistical analyses (propensity score matching, survival analysis, test-negative design) in R and SAS, manage the data governance behind them (IRB, DUAs, CMS ResDAC), and translate the findings for CDC leadership, CMS, and state health departments. I also became my team's subject-matter expert on the Truveta platform, mastering it and its proprietary Prose coding language within about three months of gaining access, and have since trained more than five colleagues to work independently within it.

How I got here
My path into this work started in public health field work in West Africa, then continued through field epidemiology at the Florida Department of Health and early surveillance work with CDC. That trajectory is what still shapes how I approach a dataset: as evidence that needs to reach a decision-maker, not just a table of numbers.
